ABOUT US

MFM Minerals is a fully permitted 720 acre clay and limestone operation near Reddick, FL with distribution of clay products to the national and international cat litter markets and limestone to the northern-half of peninsular FL.

The Limestone Mine

The mine has proven reserves in excess of 280 million tons and an estimated mine life over 100 years. The high quality limestone reserves are utilized in the road construction industry (FDOT certified road base), as commercial aggregates (component of concrete) and high-grade calcium limerock for power plant, flue gas desulfurization.

The hardness and quality of the limestone is unique for Ocala Limestone, which is typically known as a soft and porous (friable) limestone. The Hawthorne Formation that contains the fuller’s earth clay reserves utilized for production of cat litter and overlies the Ocala Limestone has protected the rock from post-depositional erosion at this distinctive locale.

The Clay Mine

The Hawthorne Formation is comprised of several geologic units, with one zone containing commercially exploitable reserves of the fuller’s earth clay. The clay mineral extracted from MFM Minerals – Clay mine is calcium montmorillonite, which produces extremely absorbent clay.

The Lowell, FL Cat Litter Facility

Clay is hauled from the mine near Reddick, FL six miles southwest to the cat litter production and packaging facility in Lowell, FL. The calcium montmorillonite clay is crushed, dried, milled and screened to generate various sizes of cat litter products and conveyed to final product bins. From the final product bins the cat litter is packaged in various containers, including bags, boxes, jugs and pails for shipment to customers. MFM Minerals - Clay cat litter products are marketed and sold through proprietary brands such as FreshAire and CedarFresh as well as, private label brands for grocery, club stores and pet store chains.
